Verbal Description and League Comments
|
1.5 - 2.0
|
You could describe yourself as a beginner. You know how to serve and return points but you haven't developed any game consistency.
You hopefully have learned how to keep score. You basically love the game and want to meet up with other people who have the same passion.

2.5
|
Needs on-court
experience. Has obvious stroke weaknesses but is familiar
with basic positions for singles and doubles play. 2.5
Learning to judge where the ball is going although court
coverage is weak. Can sustain a short rally of slow pace
with other players of the same ability.

Fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but is not
comfortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying
for directional control, depth or power. Most common doubles
formation is one-up and one-back.

Competitive2 Division, This division appears when the
city's league is large enough and we have enough returning
players. The addition of this division allows the league to fine tune the levels and the matches tend to be closer. Playoff qualifiers play in the
Competitive playoffs.

3.5
|
Has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on
moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. Starting to exhibit more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage and is developing teamwork in doubles.
Admin Comments:
Competitive1 Division, About 40% of the players are in this
division. The majority of non-trained adult players are at this level.

4.0
|
Has dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both
forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys
with some success. Occasionally forces errors when serving. Rallies may be lost due to impatience.
Admin Comments:
Advanced1 Division, About 15% of the players are in this
division. Rusty players should start off in the Competitive Division first. Scores are closely monitored by the league for
Purity of Competition Rules. The NTRP rating is just too easy, a 4.0 player has some strokes that very good. You are a solid player.

|
